And the new iPhone is...the iPhone 4S!

Well, after much speculating, the new iPhone was announced today and it is not the highly talked about iPhone 5 but instead the iPhone 4S! While it is the 5th generation iPhone, it is still marked as a disappointment by the Apple community.

My thoughts? I am not really surprised. It fits with the move from the 3G to the 3GS. I think too many people expected a major leap but the new iPhone 4S packs a pretty powerful punch. The outside is still the same at the iPhone 4 but the insides are totally beefed up! It now sports a mighty A5 chip, the same chips that powers the iPad 2. The camera resolution has increased to 8 megapixels and you can shoot video in 1080p. Plus, the new iPhone optimizes the new iOS5 which uses its new assistant SIRI! The second video shows the SIRI demo!

Check out the changes in the video below!

Here is the SIRI demo video:

SIRI looks the most impressive to me! Finally being able to talk to do just about every phone function! I really like being able to text hands free and simply ask to get information!

Pre-orders for the iPhone 4S begins this Friday the 7th with availability on the 14th. The iPhone 3GS becomes a free phone on a contract. The iPhone 4 becomes $99 for the 8GB.

The 4S will enter the scene at $199, $299, and $399 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models respectively.
All prices are obviously subject to contract, but now you’ll be able to exercise just a little more choice with Sprint also joining the party.

  1. I'm super excited about this phone. It is a huge improvement from what I have now, the 3GS. Even though I know many people will want to hold out for the "iPhone 5" - even though I argue this an iPhone 5... 5th generation! - I'm going to get one. I'm doing the every other generation thing. Whatever Apple comes out with next year, there will always be something better the NEXT year. :)
