Lil Oishi: A History of a Logo!
For those of you who have been asking about my logo character, well here is his history! The character is named Lil Oishi. Oishi means delicious in Japanese. My original blog was a food blog before I expanded it. When I started my blog I knew I wanted a simple name and also a really appealing logo. Anything would be great except my actual face!
The talented artist behind my character is Jerrod Maruyama. I discovered Jerrod Maruyama way before I wanted to start a blog. I loved his work and followed him on twitter. On a visit to the Pixar Animation Studios, I actually saw a shirt with his work on it and bought it.
I started to tweet with him and we would discuss Disney on a regular basis. As I started to think about a blog to start as a hobby, I knew I wanted a logo that had instant appeal. Jerrod or his style would be ideal for my blog. I asked if he could develop something for me and this is the result! Jerrod will tell you that I never asked for any changes to Lil Oishi from the first piece of art that he sent me. Since then Jerrod has created some amazing pieces for me! I am deeply honored and greatly thankful to Jerrod's kindness and generosity! I will post all the new artwork and some of my favorites from the past as time goes on!
If you have ideas for the character let me know! I pretty much have all the monthly logos covered as well as some of my favorite Disney costumes covered. Maybe movie characters next? Sky's the limit!
