The location in Long Beach is their second location after their first one in North Hollywood. This location was once home to the old Security Savings Bank. I love the look and vibe in this restaurant. I could easily spend as much time taking photos as eating the fabulous food and drinking their wide selection of beer!
It felt like I had stepped back into time and should be here with Elliot Ness from The Untouchables! Where is my fedora!
A look at the bar!
Love the seating areas and the bookcase!
I love the seating areas that are spread throughout the restaurant! I want to come back one Friday or Saturday evening with more friends to lounge and have a few drinks and listen to the music!
Just some of the offerings on draft!
I went with the Delirium Nocturnum since it was voted the best beer in the world according to a sandwich board out front! This was a huge bottle of beer (a pint) and was just a solid beer. I am a huge NewCastle fan and think of this as a stronger, darker NewCastle with much more flavor.
My friend Daisy tried her first beer float! This was an old Rasputin with chocolate ice cream and a splash of coffee! Nice and smooth with a small amount of bitterness from the coffee! A great refreshing drink on a warm day!
We each ordered a "pass-around", their word for appetizers! These are the michelada mussels! I am a huge mussels fan and this was big enough to be a great meal! They combines cherry tomatoes, serrano, hefeweizen and roasted tomatillo to create one amazing dish! Plus the bread to help soak up some of the sauce at the end was icing on the cake!
We also ordered the short rib poutine! House fries with cheese curds, shredded short rib, and a blue cheese drizzle! One of the best dishes ever! Forget chili cheese fries and keep bringing me these!
For my entree I went with the signature Federal Dog!A great all beef hot dog combined with shallot onion rings, pickled jalapenos, and mustard on a fantastic pretzel bun! I also loved the garlic fries!
Daisy went with the signature Federal Burger! A great brioshe bun with an all beef patty, garlic chips, smoked cheddar, bibb lettuce, black peppercorn aoili, and balsamic onion! I think at this point both of us were getting rather full!
Take a look at that juicy burger!
We also ordered a side of the maple-glazed sweet potato tots! They were like candy! So sweet and flavorful! I could eat these all day long!
We did our best to try to save room for dessert! Daisy had the salted caramel cheesecake that was served in this lovely martini glass! It was so reach and creamy, just a great dessert!
I went with the sweet bacon cristo! If you have had a Monte Cristo before then you sort of know what this is about! A deep fried bit of heaven with chocolate, bacon and chipotle peanut butter! They need to sell the peanut butter so ?I can take some home with me! Just the right amount of fire to go along with this decadent dessert!
One more look at The Federal Bar on the inside!
They also have a small patio area out front!
I want to thank The Federal Bar for their outstanding hospitality! Great service, great food, great drinks and a great atmosphere will make this your favorite place for lunch or dinner or Happy Hour! and speaking of Happy Hour, Happy Hour is every day from 3pm to 6pm! You get two dollars off all of their pass-arounds and you get the full size orders not Happy Hour size portions! Plus special pricing on drinks! I want to come back for Happy Hour if anyone wants to go with me!
