Sasaki Time's Dapper Tour of Walt Disney's Disneyland! The Mark Twain Riverboat and Wheelhouse!
Our Dapper Tour of Walt Disney's Disneyland continues with the Mark Twain Riverboat. While the Mark Twain was an opening day attraction, it's history goes as far back as Walt's first plan for a Mickey Mouse Park that was to be built across the street from the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. The idea for the park grew and became Disneyland.
One of the really cool things that you may be able to do at the Mark Twain is to ride in the Captain's Wheelhouse. At the Captain's discretion, a small number of Guests are allowed to ride in the wheelhouse with the Captain.
We asked at the Mark Twain entrance if we could ride in the wheelhouse and were able to ride in the wheelhouse on the next trip around the Rivers of America. This was a really cool experience as it was not only Kristen's first time on the Mark Twain but she got to ride the Mark Twain in style.
Here I am climbing up the stairs from the Captain's living quarters into the wheelhouse.
Our Captain for this journey is Captain Jeremy! He was amazing and clearly loved cruising around the river!
Captain Jeremy commanding the Mark Twain and blowing the whistle to let all of New Orleans Square that we are on our way!
Kristen is just timeless here as she look along the riverbanks.
The views make it easy to see why people fell in love with being on the river.
It's Kristen's turn behind the wheel!
I get to blow the whistle as we head around Pirate's Lair!
Just a lovely day for a trip down the Rivers of America.
Another timeless photo of Kristen as we make our approach for shore.
Kristen signs the Captain's log book.
And we proudly show off our Pilot's Certificates!
What a great way to spend some time on one of the original attractions here at Disneyland! Thanks to Kevin for the amazing photos and to Captain Jeremy for his kindness and knowledge along the Rivers of America!
Hope you enjoyed our Dapper Tour of the Mark Twain as Disneyland Celebrates it's 60th Anniversary!

Sasaki Time's Dapper Tour of Walt Disney's Disneyland! The Golden Horseshoe!
The Dapper Tour of Walt Disney's Disneyland continues at The Golden Horseshoe in Frontierland! This building unofficially opened several days before Disneyland when Walt and his wife Lillian hosted friends for their 30th wedding anniversary.
This beautiful saloon took us back to a time when cowboys and even Davey Crockett himself might walk in for a show. The Golden Horseshoe Revue was the first show here and is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest running musical of all-time with over 39,000 shows!
Kristen and I are sitting in Walt's favorite seats! What a perfect place to take in a show!
Bring on the drinks and the show!
Even the view from the second floor is fantastic!
Always lovely to enjoy a show here before heading back out into the park!
I love the soft sunlight in this shot. Thanks to my friend Kevin for these fantastic photos!
Hope you enjoyed a look at The Golden Horseshoe as we continue our tour in Walt Disney's Disneyland for the 60th Anniversary of his beloved Magic Kingdom!

Sasaki Time's Dapper Tour of Walt Disney's Disneyland! Fantasyland!
Our Dapper Day Tour of Walt Disney's Disneyland continues in perhaps the happiest land of them all, Fantasyland! Here we are standing on the other side of Sleeping Beauty Castle. This is probably the least photographed side of the castle but the top half of the castle is the original front of the castle. According to Disney Legend, the top was flipped around and when Walt saw it, he loved it and the castle was built this way.
I love this shot! You can see all the way down Main Street USA to the train station! The use of black and white here really takes you back to 1955! Once again thank you to my friend Kevin for these great photos!
Even though Dumbo did not open in Fantasyland until three months, you cannot imagine Fantasyland without this attraction! I love that they have this Dumbo vehicle off to the side to take photos with.
Just enjoying another perfect day at Disneyland!
Taking a spin on the Mad T Party. Another classic Fantasyland attraction and another attraction with a photo vehicle.
The only attraction with the word "ride" in it! Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is another attraction with a photo vehicle in front of it! Great for taking your time to set up a great photo!
Time to ride my favorite attraction in Fantasyland, King Arthur's Carousel!
How can you not be happy to be riding one of the horses on the carousel?
Kristen is also riding the most special horse on the entire carousel. Do you know what makes this particular horse special?
Kristen is riding on top of Jingles, the lead horse of the carousel, named for her ornate carvings and beautiful straps of jingle bells hanging from her saddle and cantle. During the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland, Jingles was dedicated as the Julie Andrews horse.
A closer look at the saddle shows Mary Poppins' boots, Julie's initials, a flying silhouette of Mary Poppins and the number"50" representing Disneyland's 50th Anniversary!
Hope you enjoyed our Dapper look at Fantasyland! Look for more in this photo series as we celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Disneyland!

Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron Movie Review
Three years ago there was a lot of doubt that Joss Whedon had what it would take to take six superheroes in one film and have it make sense to more than just the die hard fans. Well, we know how that turned out.
Get ready to assemble once again for Avengers: Age of Ultron! The 11th film in the already incredible Marvel Cinematic Universe is here! Does Whedon raise the bar yet again? Let's gear up and dive into the review!
The opening sequence is the most explosive, exciting sequence ever! We immediately jump into the action and into a world where S.H.I.E.L.D. has collapsed and the Avengers have take over with global security. Captain America leads the team while Stark is doing the financing. The team has assembled to take down one of the last HYDRA cells where Baron Strucker has not only Loki's scepter but has the twins, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch who possess incredible superpowers.
We first saw the twins in the end credit scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Quicksilver has blinding speed and Scarlet Witch has psychic powers that can take over minds or show people their deepest fears.
At the end of the opening battle, Stark returns to work on his dream, Ultron, an artificial intelligence program to help with global peacekeeping. But Ultron becomes self-aware and believes that in order to preserve humanity he must erase it.
The team finds themselves racing around the world in order to stop Ultron and his army of robots. Along they way, Ultron is doing his best to break the team apart.
The epic battle between Hulk and Iron Man in his Hulkbuster armor is the most significant scene of the team getting ripped apart. But this is because of the power of Scarlet Witch. She implants each Avengers worse fears. In turn, we also learn about the start of a romance between two of the members and well as discover a huge secret about another member.
The action is fast paced and frantic at times! There are tons of edge-of-your-seat moments throughout! The cast has become much more relaxed and comfortable with one another! The new cast fits right in and the addition of Paul Bettany as Vision is a powerful addition. But it is James Spader as the voice of Ultron that steals the show! He gets some of the movies best lines and delivers them in a frightening manner!
In the end the team is changed forever. Avengers: Age of Ultron is a film that is as fun and entertaining as the first with some darker moments as well.
Avengers Assemble!
Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1st!
